Uruguay v Chile Live Streaming: Chile can book their quarter final place
Considered the most competitive of the three groups at this year’s Copa America, Group C offers up the best match of the tournament so far when Chile face Uruguay on Friday night, which is live on Unibet TV.
Argentina and Brazil were rightly regarded as the pre-tournament favourites before the competition but many were predicting that Chile and Uruguay were two nations that could challenge those footballing giants for the Copa America trophy this summer.
Chile go into Friday night’s match top of Group C after they beat Mexico 2-1 in their opening game. The Chileans produced a good second half performance on Tuesday night after they unexpectedly went a goal down just before half-time.
The better team throughout the game, Chile looked dangerous, with highly sought after Alexis Sanchez leading their attacks. They were rewarded for their efforts when substitute Esteban Paredes and midfielder Arturo Vidal got the goals to get Chile off to a winning start.
Since reaching the last-16 of the World Cup in South Africa last year, Chile have lost just once and have won five of their last eight matches. A good side that are fluid in attack but also solid in midfield, Chile caught the eye most out of all the top teams during the opening round of matches and they look like a good bet to win their next game, booking their place in the quarter-finals.
Uruguay were strong favourites going into their opening game with Peru but they struggled against the underdogs and had to come from behind to secure a draw. Despite having a star-studded forward line made up of Diego Forlan, Luis Suarez and Edison Cavani, Uruguay never looked that threatening and were easily frustrated by Peru.
What will be even more worrying for Uruguay fans is the team’s formation and how vulnerable they seemed to be. Playing with three strikers up front left several gaps in the midfield and they were quickly exposed on the counter-attack. Against better sides, the three-man midfield will be much too lightweight and defence will constantly be under attack.
The most recent meeting between Chile and Uruguay was back in November of last year when Chile ran out 2-0 winners. Even though it was a friendly match, expect a similar score-line on Friday night. Chile are a much more organised outfit, stronger in midfield and more threatening in attack. This will also be like a home game for them as over 15,000 Chileans are expected to cross the border into Argentina to cheer on their team.
