Andy Johnson's superb Europa League form could see him replace Moussa Dembele in attack. With Damien Duff and Simon Davies sidelined, Dembele and Clint Dempsey comprise Martin Jol's wide options.
Orlando Sa featured for the Cottagers' reserve side against Chelsea on Monday night as he nears full fitness after a hamstring injury, but the Portuguese striker is unlikely to start. Defender Zdenek Grygera is a long-term absentee.
Leroy Fer could continue in midfield as top scorer Marc Janko remains a doubt. If the Austrian striker is passed as fit to play, FC Twente boss Co Adriaanse could switch to a 4-2-3-1 with Janko leading the line and Fer dropping to the bench.
DID YOU KNOW? |
- Fulham could go top of Group K with a win in the Netherlands. They currently sit three points behind Thursday's hosts FC Twente, who also hold a three-goal advantage in the goal difference column.
- The two sides played out a 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage, with Andrew Johnson opening the scoring before Luuk de Jong's header rebounded off Mark Schwarzer's back and over the line.
- With only one goal to his name so far, Bryan Ruiz has not enjoyed an electrifying start to his Fulham career since signing from Twente for £10.6 million during the summer. He is cup-tied for the fixture.
- Twente are probably best known in England for one of their former managers. After being relieved of his duties with the England national team following the country's failure to qualify for Euro 2008, Steve McClaren (pictured right) enjoyed a successful two-year spell in Enschede.
- After a second-place finish in the 2008-09 season, McClaren led the club to their first ever Eredivisie league title the following year.
- Bulgarian goalkeeper Nikolay Mihaylov was signed by Liverpool from Levski Sofia in 2007. When he failed to obtain a work permit, however, he was sent out on loan and spent nearly three seasons with Twente before making his move permanent in February 2010.
- Dutch midfielder Denny Landzaat had more of an impact in English football, making 52 league appearances for Wigan Athletic over two seasons after signing from AZ in 2006.
- Fulham manager Martin Jol is a former Twente player himself. A midfielder, Jol appeared for the national team for the first time after joining the club in 1979. He spent three seasons with Twente after signing from Bayern Munich.
- Jol has led Fulham to just two Premier League victories in 13 matches so far this season. In Europe they have fared much better, taking two wins and a draw from their four group stage matches so far.
- Fulham's only Dutch player, young striker Danny Hoesen, is out on loan this season at Eerste Divisie outfit Fortuna Sittard. Injured full-back Zdenek Grygera spent time with Ajax, while forward Moussa Dembele established himself during five seasons with Willem II and AZ. Carlos Salcido, also sent out on loan, previously played for PSV Eindhoven.
